City Songs (2022-present)

Co-Creator, Editor, Mixer, Videographer, and Sound Recorder

Aurora Nealand and I originally created City Songs as a community engagement project for the Big Ears Festival. City Songs is an exercise in creative cartography. We work with local writers and music makers to document, score, and map place-based memories and sense impressions. The project surfaces how the places in a city can be containers for the many stories of its citizens. Tethered to the sites that inspired them, these stories become a new way to navigate the urban terrain.

Core project collaborators include the Big Ears Festival, Knoxville Community Media, Matt Morelock, Amos Oaks, Rachel Milford, and Justine Griffin.

Musical artists include Elena Moon Park, Courageous, Jarius Bush, Ciro Baptista, Leyla McCalla, Aurora Nealand, Adeem the Artist, Kelle Jolly, Claire Chenette, Braxton Rogers, Cecilia Wright, Abby Fisher and Jorge Variego, Ben Lamar Gay, Denny Rae’Kwon, David King, the Knox Honkers and Bangers, Lonnie Holley and Leah Hennessy, TJ Borden, Joe Jordan, Mange Valencia and Mauricio Ramirez, Mourning [A] BLKstar, Evie Andrus, Xiima and Xzavian Wrushen, Justyn Griffin, Matt Morelock, David Miller,
