Krewe Da Bhang Gras (2023-current)

Designer and fabricator

Krewe Da Bhang Gras is a Mardi Gras Krewe of South Asian performers and ally support staff that performs choreographed dances to Bollywood and Bhangra hits. Fusing the decorative and celebratory flair of the subcontinent with the outlandish aesthetics of street parade revelry, the group expands the notion of what’s possible when New Orleanians take to the streets for Carnival. The group has performed in some of the largest Carnival parades and is routinely asked to participate in local festivals and cultural events as ambassadors of Desi music, dance, and culture.

I am a foundational member of the Krewe. I parade as support staff, and I designed and fabricated the hand-pulled rickshaw and the fruit cart, which serves as a mobile sound system and DJ station.
